What are we reading? The Power of Humility in Leadership: Influencing as a Role Model.

- by Franziska Frank

Why is demonstrating humility challenging for leaders? Is it due to the vulnerability required to acknowledge imperfections? There is no such thing as a perfect leader. In fact, 97 percent of employees consider humility an important or very important behavior for managers.

Despite this, many leaders still adhere to the "old-school" leadership style, seeing any mistake as a weakness. They believe showing humility or vulnerability could lead others to question their strength as a leader. However, the reality is that strong leadership requires humility, which begins with trust and vulnerability.

Action Step

Embrace humility and vulnerability in your everyday leadership journey. Recognize that you are not perfect and you don't have to have all the answers. You'll be amazed at how much trust you can build with others by simply being humble.
