Two Questions
Do you value your time?
When faced with making a difficult decision—which is what leaders do—what key principles drive your final choice? Does your organization have a strategic plan? Have you identified your core beliefs? With any challenging judgment call, there will be those who disagree. Consider the controversy surrounding pandemic-related decisions. In many situations, there wasn't a "right" answer, yet someone had to make the final call. Let your integrity and character guide you through this process.
Every successful leader prioritizes daily "think time”. While judgment calls are challenging, you can prepare for them. Set aside time each day to review and reflect on your decision-making process.
How’s your energy?
We have a choice each day regarding our mindset. While we often get caught up in our hectic leadership and life schedules, this choice remains important.
Think about the joy displayed on the faces of five-year-old children as you walk past them at the local park, school, or community event. For them, every action is a new adventure filled with learning. Now consider the expressions on the faces of adults you work with each day. Is that same energy and passion displayed? The answer is likely no. This isn't because adults choose to live stressful and unhappy lives—it's because we've lost our passion.
As a leader, look for daily opportunities to tap into the energy and passion of those around you.
