Two Questions
What about people you don’t like?
It's easy to build relationships with people you like and those who agree with your ideas. But what about those individuals in your life who are often difficult to like? If you rarely see or work with them, the solution is simple—you can choose to avoid them. However, what if you have to work with such people daily?
One easy tip, find something you have in common. We gain little by deepening the divide with those we dislike or disagree with. As challenging as it might be, take time to find common ground. Remember, the value of building quality relationships isn't limited to just those you like!
Do you invest in those around you?
We have all heard the statement, "It's lonely at the top." However, it is important to note that loneliness and being alone are actually two different things. Loneliness has more to do with not having meaningful connections and a sense of purpose. Great leaders understand the value of a team and approach their work each day with a sense of purpose and community. No doubt that at times the leader is on an island when having to make a final decision, but this is not the same as loneliness. Not only are connections, relationships, and teamwork important in our leadership work, they actually have a direct impact on our life expectancy!
