Two Questions

Do Relationships Matter?

Great leaders make a difference. Organizational strategies, well-defined goals, and strategic planning have their place, but none of these items are as important as the relationships that top-notch leaders foster within their teams and organizations. The leaders who are consistently successful are the ones who understand the true importance of relationship building. They know that the heartbeat of any organization, school, or team is the people. Make an intentional effort each day to invest in the success of others.

What Can You Learn From Your Favorite Coach?

To be a successful leader, you must also be an effective coach. This doesn't mean you need to be knowledgeable about sports or model your leadership style after your favorite NFL coach. However, it does mean that we should observe what successful coaches do - they understand how to motivate and connect with each individual player on their team. They don't treat each player the same, as each player brings different skills and attributes to the team. They hold everyone accountable but can do so in a variety of ways that benefit the common goals of the team.
