Two Questions

What can we learn from great teachers?

What do great teachers do daily to influence their students' lives? What leadership lessons can we gain from this? First, great teachers build relationships and trust with each student. They know that a "one-size-fits-all" approach won't work because each student's learning and growth process is unique. This concept may seem simple when applied to great teachers, but why do organizations often take a different approach?

When working with adults, we tend to cram many people into a convention center, conference room, or an online meeting platform for training. Then, we fault them for not understanding what we "taught." The process of helping others grow and learn relies more on relationships than on content.

What do your team members need from you?

What do your team members need from you? How often do you consider this? Various leadership books, articles, and presentations have underscored the leader's crucial role in an organization's long-term success. But why is this so? Without leadership, an organization quickly loses its vision and direction, impacting the tasks of others. Who's there to resolve conflicts or make tough decisions when no one else is willing? Thinking about leadership in this way makes it easier to understand what others need. They need someone to steer the ship, provide direction, and foster a trusting, connected environment.

Make it a priority to find out from others in your organization what they need from you. Too often we don’t take the necessary time to do this. Trust and relationships are at the heart of all great teams. Take time to establish and grow both.
