Why Do “Great” Teams Fail?

Have you ever been a member of a great team that eventually failed because of an unwillingness to change? We can learn a lot about our own leadership from observing professional sports teams. It is so rare to see professional sports teams win multiple championships year after year. In fact, since the beginning of the Super Bowl only eight teams have won back-to-back championships. This isn’t the result of a lack of talent, but more about making the changes needed to continue the success.

How’s your passion?

What was it that inspired you to choose your life’s work? Does that same inspiration still drive your work today? Many times, we are promoted to the “next job” because we were successful in our previous role. If you find yourself getting frustrated because your daily work doesn’t match your passion, examine the things you can change. While there are some responsibilities you might not be able to alter – this should not stop you from making small changes that provide you more opportunities to do what you love.
